Dear Fellow Deer Farmers,
Welcome to a new mile stone in Sarnia history. This sale represents our first
complete offering of pure Woburn genetics. I believe this is the first ever public
auction of solely Woburn deer in New Zealand.
In this sale there are four, rare pregnancies by AI to some of Woburn’s new and
established stars. Two of the dams on offer here have produced our two
heaviest weaners for last season, one by AI and one naturally mated.
The genetic spread is interesting with our team of sires representing both new
and established bloodlines. This catalogue will have something for all.
Our focus moving forward is production based, with live weights, antler
structure and birth dates/fertility being targeted. To that end our young sires
have done a stunning job this season getting everything bar three MA hinds in
calf. Our mean calving date looks like it will improve by at least two weeks this
coming season. For the first time we produced two pure Woburn two year old
stags over 200kgs by January of this year.
The young stock are looking great and weight gains are well on track to produce
some top notch replacement dams.
